In many ways, so much of what athletes learn about how to navigate life are from the lessons they have learned from playing sports. From the football field, to the basketball court, to any athletic arena, there are many great lessons that sports teaches athletes about how to handle the adversity that life presents.
Working with athletes as a coach and as a mental skills trainer has made me think about how the mental toughness athletes acquire through their sports experience gives them the tools they need to thrive in life. These stories convey many of the valuable lessons that sports teaches athletes and allows them to not only survive and persevere, but ultimately, to thrive on the biggest stage, the stage of life!
